Just Jesus
Who is Jesus to you?
Do you think he was a kind man, a great prophet, a historical figure, or the Messiah and the son of God? Maybe He's a part of your every day life or maybe you just came here to see what I had to say about this incredible man I call my friend and father. I bet if you learned more about Him, it won't take long for you to love Him too.
You see, I grew up in a Christian home. While I learned my ABCs and 123s, I also learned that Jesus loves me.
- My dad sat by my bed every night and said my prayers with me.
- Every year we ended Christmas Eve service singing Silent Night at midnight and then rushed home to bed so Santa wouldn't skip our house.
- We celebrated our risen Savior on Easter Sunday, and after service we would hunt for eggs that the Easter Bunny hid all over the church property.
I have many happy memories of learning about and loving Jesus from a very early age, and I have raised my own children the same way. They heard about this wonderful God-man, since they were little babies, and knew He loved them just as much, and more, than mommy and daddy did. Now, as adults, they all love Jesus too. I still pray with them every night, asking God to "Keep them safe, healthy, happy, and close to Him always." That's the biggest one. Staying close to Jesus. Because....
- Sometimes we won't be safe.
- Sometimes we won't be healthy.
- Sometimes we won't be happy.
Because sometimes we don't get that choice.
But, regardless of our circumstances, we always have a choice to stay close to Jesus.
Him? Oh, He's always there. He's close to us. But if we don't acknowledge Him, if we don't lean into Him, if we don't take His hand and let Him guide, protect, and comfort us, then I don't know, friend. I don't know what happens then. And honestly, I don't want to.
Being close to Jesus and walking in His will is the greatest place to be. If you're not so sure, let's walk and talk for a while. This is what I have done my whole life, and He has taught me time and time again, that we can live a life full of challenges but full of joy. He has taught me to live with Just Jesus, because that is what will satisfy you enough to live a life happily ever after, after. After everything else fades away, and there is just Jesus.
And that, when it comes down to it, is all we will ever need.
And my God will supply all your needs
according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19
